Job summary

Burger Boat Company in Manitowoc, WI, seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer to strengthen our quality systems and shipyard processes.

You will develop and sustain a QMS aligned with ISO 9001 and naval standards, lead RCA and CAPA activities, perform audits, and collaborate across Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure quality at the source on commercial and government contracts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within the Shipbuilding, Heavy Manufacturing, or regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and regulatory standards (NAVSEA, ABS, USCG).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Experience with audits, CAPA, and problem‑solving methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement quality plans, inspection/test plans (ITPs), and control plans.
• Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 and maritime/government standards.
• Lead investigations into nonconformances, escapes, and customer complaints using structured problem‑solving (8D, DMAIC, A3).
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Program Management to embed quality early in design and manufacturing.
• Support first article inspections (FAI) and supplier quality improvements.
