Job summary

Everett Ship Repair LLC in Everett, WA is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) & Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Welding professional to support the QA Department through inspections and verification across vessel repair and construction projects. You will perform UT, VT, MT, PT exams, review drawings, coordinate with third-party NDT, and help develop in-house NDT capabilities while mentoring apprentices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in welding, NDT, metallurgy, or related field preferred.
• ASNT Level II certification (or equivalent) in VT, MT, PT, and/or UT.
• Experience performing welding inspections in shipbuilding, fabrication, or marine environments.
• Familiar with FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, specs, and inspection requirements.
• Knowledge of NAVSEA, ABS, USCG, and other marine regs.

Responsibilities

• Perform UT, VT, MT, PT and other nondestructive exams per procedures and certification level.
• Conduct welding inspections to verify procedures, drawings, specs, and codes.
• Inspect welds for workmanship, discontinuities, dimensions, and code compliance.
• Document inspection results and prepare inspection reports.
• Coordinate with third‑party NDT providers and witness inspections beyond current certification.
• Assist with welder qualification testing and WPS/PQR activities.
• Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote safe work environment and assist in apprenticeship training.
