Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of mechanical, industrial maintenance, marine, shipyard, or outside machinist experience preferred.
• Experience working on marine vessels, naval ships, commercial ships, or industrial equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, hydraulic systems, and rotating equipment.
• Familiarity with shaft alignment and precision measuring tools.
• Experience with rigging and safe material handling practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard mechanical systems and equipment.
• Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair, and reinstall pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, and related machinery.
• Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measuring instruments.
• Align shafts, couplings, bearings, pumps, and machinery to required tolerances.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Conduct maintenance on propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and deck equipment.
• Perform flange makeup, hydro testing, gasket replacement, and pipe system repairs.
• Utilize rigging equipment to move and position machinery components safely.
• Assist with dry dock, repair, overhaul, and modernization projects.
• Follow all shipyard, OSHA, and safety regulations while working in confined spaces, elevated areas, and aboard vessels.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and completed work.
