Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks an Accuracy Control Engineer to ensure assembly accuracy and drive process improvements in our San Diego shipyard. You will supervise metrology activities, analyze data, and coordinate with engineering, QA, and production teams to maintain dimensional compliance.

This role requires a civil/mechanical engineering background, hands-on metrology experience (laser trackers/total stations), CAD proficiency, and strong technical writing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in Accuracy Control, Engineering, or Metrology processes preferred.
• Experience operating metrology equipment (e.g., laser tracker, total station) with data collection, analysis, and reporting software preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Excel.
• Technical writing and statistical analysis experience preferred.
• Knowledge of shipbuilding terminology and design processes.

Responsibilities

• Support ship system alignment using metrology instruments and refer to blueprints to develop procedures and reports.
• Analyze collected metrology data to ensure assembly accuracy and identify process improvements; prepare stakeholder reports.
• Plan and oversee field surveys using advanced metrology instruments.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and QA to maintain dimensional compliance and optimize processes.
• Organize studies to evaluate and improve process accuracy and update procedures.
