Job summary

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division is seeking a maintenance technician to perform preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical tools, air tools, pumps, and hydraulic equipment. The role covers critical systems, including steam, river water, air compressors, and demineralized water, with emphasis on pumps, boilers, and related control systems.

The ideal candidate should be a team player, highly motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision, and possess basic knowledge of plant

Qualifications

• The candidate should be able to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical specifications.
• Prior experience reading and interpreting equipment repair manuals is a plus.
• Understanding of the basic steam cycle, water chemistry, automated boiler control systems, burner management systems, pumps, boiler auxiliary systems, compressors and generation of demineralized water is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical tools, air tools, pumps and hydraulic equipment.
• Repair and maintain critical equipment and systems that provide plant services, including low/high pressure steam, river water systems, air compressors, and demineralized water systems.
