Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a maintenance carpenter to perform general building maintenance including carpentry, flooring repairs/installation, door hardware replacements, stairs and platforms construction, sheetrock installation and window repairs on-site in Newport News, Virginia.

The role requires the ability to work at extreme heights or in small spaces, read measurements, use general hand tools and power tools, and to cover assigned shifts as production needs

Qualifications

• Must be able to work at extreme heights or in small confined spaces.
• Must possess the ability to read and take measurements.
• Experience in the use of general hand tools and various power tools.
• Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance including carpentry tasks.
• Repair and install flooring and door hardware, and construct stairs and platforms.
• Install sheetrock and perform finishing work.
• Replace and repair windows as needed.
• Read measurements and follow instructions to complete tasks.
