Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, seeks an Outside Machinist to install, test, and service major mechanical systems on ships. You’ll work on commercial and naval vessels, in various construction stages, applying hands-on mechanical skills and precision measurements.

Qualifications include 1–3 years in related maintenance roles, ability to lift 40 lbs, pass agility tests, and be comfortable working outdoors and on various shifts.

Qualifikationen

• 1–3 years experience in automotive/diesel/heavy equipment maintenance or similar.
• Must be able to pass background check and drug screen.
• Must be able to pass physical agility test.
• Must lift at least 40 pounds and perform overhead work.
• Must be willing to work any shift and outdoors year-round.

• Install, groom and test ship’s major mechanical components and systems.
• Work on commercial or naval ships at various stages of construction, overhaul or repair.
• Operate a wide range of tools and machinery from hand tools to mills and lathes.
