Stevens Towing Company, Inc. has a full‑time position available for a Shipyard Lead Person. This position requires experience in drydocking tugs, barges, and other marine vessels. The employee must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required and needed.

The Shipyard Lead Person oversees aspects of work on customer equipment and is responsible and accountable for the performance of shipyard personnel for safety, quality, cost, and scheduling, including administrative functions needed to support the customer’s project. The Shipyard Lead Person helps execute projects in line with customer requirements and Stevens Towing Co., Inc.’s policies and procedures while delivering excellent customer service. The Shipyard Lead Person promotes a professional and safety‑conscious working environment and performs other duties as requested or required.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee production work on customer equipment, ensuring that production workers are focused and productive at their assigned duties.
  • Ensure that all work meets appropriate quality requirements.
  • Ensure safety procedures and policies are followed.
  • Ensure hours and costs are recorded accurately.
  • Plan work to meet customer schedule requirements.
  • Communicate accurate, timely, and sufficiently detailed information to management to support decision‑making, including labor and resource allocation among current projects and estimates for future project bids.
  • Coordinate work and resources with fellow supervisors and other production team leaders to operate efficiently and profitably.
  • Interact effectively with the customer’s representatives while meeting their schedule and daily requirements.
  • Ensure that the correct materials are ordered and delivered on a timely basis.
  • Provide other support as needed by the shipyard supervisor and other managers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe shipyard and foster a well‑trained and motivated staff.
  • Direct project activities in areas of safety, personnel, production, scheduling, material handling and quality, and ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in random drug screens as a condition of employment.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years’ production experience and at least two years supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and TWIC required.
  • Learn safety rules and become familiar with proper usage of safety equipment.
  • Comply with all Safety and Pollution Prevention Regulations and Procedures under Stevens Towing Company, Inc.’s safety policies.
