Job summary

Genesis Industrial Ventures LLC is seeking a General Shipyard Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for ship repair, maintenance, fabrication, and modernization projects. You will analyze specifications, labor, materials, and schedules to develop competitive proposals while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role requires 3–5 years of estimating experience in a shipyard or related field, strong knowledge of repair processes, and proficiency with Excel and estimating software.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years estimating experience in a shipyard, marine construction, or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of ship repair processes, welding, pipe fitting, electrical, coatings, structural fabrication, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review RFPs, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Conduct vessel inspections and ship checks to determine scope and labor requirements.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.
• Develop work breakdown structures and estimate labor hours by trade.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Collaborate with project managers, production supervisors, engineering, purchasing, and operations to develop accurate project estimates.
• Identify project risks, assumptions, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare proposal packages, bid summaries, and pricing documentation.
• Maintain estimating databases, labor production rates, and historical cost information.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, customer site visits, and project kickoff meetings as required.
• Support contract negotiations by providing cost analysis and technical clarification.
• Ensure estimates comply with applicable Navy, Coast Guard, commercial, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
• Assist with change order pricing and additional work estimates during project execution.
