Winston Staffing seeks a Shipyard Estimator to assist in cost estimation for shipyard projects based on client specifications. Strong understanding of ship hull, mechanical and electrical systems is required.
The role involves analyzing bids, obtaining material pricing, and preparing timely estimates for growth work and change orders. Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree or marine engineer license, with at least five years of marine repair/construction experience.
The Shipyard Estimator will assist in the preparation of cost estimates for shipyard projects based on the specifications provided by the client. Effective knowledge of ship hull, mechanical and electrical systems required. Relies on judgment and direction to plan and accomplish goals.
College engineering degree and/or marine engineer license preferred. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a marine repair/construction setting preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.
Must be proficient in typing and using common office equipment such as copiers, printers, fax machines, scanners and multi-function office machines. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD required, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word and Excel is a must. May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to climb stairs and navigate narrow ladderways. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information. Use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, hard hats and safety footwear is required while on work sites. Work will involve visiting work sites both indoors and outdoors at all times of the year.
