Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Company is seeking a Shipping Technician to move raw materials, WIP, and finished goods within the facility. You will load/unload, stage materials, and coordinate with production and carriers to ensure on-time deliveries.

This role emphasizes safety, accuracy in documentation, and a clean, orderly work area; forklift experience is preferred and a valid certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

The Opportunity

This role is responsible for transporting raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods throughout the warehouse and production areas to support efficient operations and on-time customer deliveries. The Shipping Technician plays a key role in material flow, shipping coordination, inventory staging, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport raw materials, WIP, and finished goods throughout the facility using pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts.
• Load and unload rolls and materials from incoming and outgoing trucks.
• Operate a pallet jack or hand truck to move materials between departments.
• Move and stage finished loads from sheeting and printing departments to designated storage locations.
• Coordinate with production teams to prepare and stage materials according to production schedules.
• Process and ship customer orders while coordinating with transportation carriers.
• Support material handling, recycling, and baling operations as needed.
• Operate forklifts safely to transport products and materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Support 5S initiatives and maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
• Follow all company safety policies, food packaging safety requirements, and operational procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

• Ability to complete forms and communicate basic information accurately.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to follow established processes and complete tasks in the proper sequence.

• Forklift experience or ability to obtain certification preferred.
