Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Shipping Supervisor for our gypsum production and reload facility in Sweetwater, Texas. This role will work day shift and supervise the shipping department in line with our management philosophy.

You will lead direct reports, drive safety, coordinate with operations, carriers, and vendors, and help implement new systems to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Experience with SAP and MS Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of leadership experience in Manufacturing or Military.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Word).
• Available for on-call, overtime, and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop direct reports through effective communication and performance evaluations.
• Motivate and encourage team to positively contribute in their roles to capture long-term value for facility.
• Ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently compared to benchmarks and milestones.
• Drive safety excellence through reporting of safety observations/incidents, personnel involvement, accountability, proactively identifying hazards, and implementing appropriate mitigating strategies.
• Communicate with Shipping Manager, Operations, Sales, carriers, and contractors regarding inventory system and adjustments.
• Support implementation of new systems into the workflow, involving Safety, Quality, and Operations to align strategies.
• Streamline shift inventory counts, production, preloads, warehouse.
• Improve efficiency of reliability, being the POC with maintenance to resolve any maintenance and forklift issues and communicating with other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
• Assist with monthly inventory audit.
• Own the rework process for board and ensure timely disposition and removal as needed.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with shipping best practices and SOPs.
• Lead efforts and coordinate with production on condensing/opening bays.
• Maintain a clean and organized shipping area and ensure all shipping equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.
• Track and report on shipping metrics and performance, following up on development of strategies to improve shipping efficiency and reduce costs.
• Partner with preload service/contractors to uphold safety and efficiency standards.
• Monitor shipping supplies inventory, order supplies, and manage vendor relationships to prevent shortages while controlling costs.
