Job summary

JBS in Omaha seeks a Shipping Superintendent to lead daily shipping operations and ensure timely, accurate order fulfillment. You will analyze production plans, coordinate with Traffic, Customer Service and Purchasing, and enforce safety and USDA/HACCP standards.

Ideal candidates have a degree in operations or supply chain, or relevant experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lift and move pallets as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Flexible schedule including some Saturdays & Sundays.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and analyze production schedules to determine shipping requirements and outputs.
• Promote a safe environment following safety standards.
• Enforce SOPs per USDA/HACCP requirements.
• Assist with loading, pallet jack/forklift, label machines, wrapping as needed.
• Oversee supervisors and employees to maximize productivity daily.
• Coordinate with Traffic, Customer Service, and Purchasing departments.
• Ensure proper PPE and sign out supplies as needed for staff.
• Collaborate with third-party cold storage to transfer products and maintain inventories.
• Assist with invoicing and billing processes when orders are completed.

Description

Job Title: Shipping Superintendent

Location: Omaha

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Essential Job Functions:

• Read and analyze, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
• Promote a safe environment following state, federal and company safety standards.
• Follow and enforce company SOP’s in accordance with USDA/HACCP requirements
• Assist employees with jobs as necessary, lifting boxes, operating pallet jack or forklift, operating label machines, wrapping combos etc.
• Follow up on any repairs or maintenance required, ensure all employee licenses and health checks are up to date.
• Oversee, motivate and manage supervisors and employees to guarantee highest productivity daily
• Communicate closely with Traffic and Customer Service departments as necessary.
• Sign out supplies for employees as necessary and ensure employees wear proper PPE.
• Work closely with Purchasing and Production to maintain and order dry ice and pallets as required
• Work closely with third party cold storage facilities to transfer products timely, complete orders and maintain inventories.
• Ensure orders are billed appropriately and work with Accounting to complete timely invoicing of completed orders.

Required Experience:

• Degree in operations management, supply chain management or related field preferred but not required
• Experience working in manufacturing, shipping or food production preferred but not required.
• Team oriented, Good Oral and Written Communication Skills.

Skills/Abilities Required:

• Capable of lifting boxes weighing up to fifty pounds.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule, including some Saturdays & Sundays.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Be able to demonstrate patience and effective listening
• Must be highly motivated, responsible and organized.
