Job summary

Openwork is seeking a Shipping Specialist in Oklahoma City to move products from the shop floor to their destination. This hands-on role requires shipping, forklift, crate-building, and crate construction experience, with a focus on accurate packing and safe handling of heavy industrial components.

You will prepare shipments, build wooden crates, read tape measures, operate material-handling equipment, manage shipping documents, and assist with inventory updates in a non-climate-controlled

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years shipping, warehouse, material-handling, or related experience.
• Experience building wooden crates, wood framing, or carpentry required.
• Forklift operating experience required.
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.

Shipping Specialist

Keep Products Moving from the Shop Floor to Their Destination

Openwork is seeking an experienced Shipping Specialist for a manufacturing operation in Oklahoma City. This is a hands‑on opportunity for someone with strong shipping, forklift, material‑handling, and crate‑building experience who takes pride in preparing products safely and accurately for shipment.

This role combines traditional shipping responsibilities with wood crate construction, packaging, inventory handling, and industrial material movement.

Position at a Glance

Location: Oklahoma City, OK 73179

Pay: $18.00–$19.00 per hour | Weekly Pay

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Extended Hours: May work as late as 4:30 PM when needed

Overtime: As needed based on business needs

Employment Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire

Your Day-to-Day

• Prepare, package, and stage finished products and industrial components for shipment.
• Build and assemble wooden shipping crates for products and equipment.
• Measure and cut materials accurately for crate construction.
• Use forklifts, hand trucks, and material-handling equipment to move products safely.
• Retrieve inventory and materials based on work orders.

• Inspect outgoing freight for damage and order accuracy.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory updates.
• Report inventory or shipping discrepancies to management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area.
• Follow company safety, quality, and shipping procedures.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• 1–2+ years of shipping, warehouse, material-handling, or related experience.
• Experience building wooden crates, wood framing, or carpentry required.
• Forklift operating experience required.
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
• Experience preparing shipping documents, packing slips, or BOLs is a plus.
• Inventory and ERP system experience is a plus.
• Overhead crane experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and order accuracy.
• Reliable and consistent attendance.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Flexibility to work overtime or extended hours based on business needs.

Work Environment

• Non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
• Industrial noise levels requiring participation in a hearing conservation program.
• Ability to safely lift 25–50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and remain active throughout the shift.
• Hands‑on work with industrial materials, shipping crates, forklifts, and equipment.
• Must be flexible to work overtime based on business needs.
