Job summary

Luminii in Chicago/Niles, IL, a specification-grade LED lighting manufacturer, is hiring a Shipping & Receiving Associate for our first shift (6am–2:30pm) with benefits. You’ll handle daily shipping/receiving operations and ensure accuracy and on-time performance.

Responsibilities include selecting finished goods, maintaining ERP inventory, preparing shipments, and coordinating with Purchasing to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of shipping/receiving experience.
• Ability to prioritize workload to ensure on-time shipments.
• Strong math, data recording and organizational skills.
• Willingness to pass background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pick finished goods for shipping as per work orders.
• Maintain shipping records and provide tracking information.
• Prepare, package, and document outgoing materials.
• Enter inventory in ERP and keep it up to date.
• Stage loading areas and operate packaging equipment.
• Unpack incoming shipments, reject damaged items, and coordinate with Purchasing.
• Build skids for truck shipment with proper packing materials.
• Verify items against bills of lading and invoices.
• Operate machinery to move shipments from shipping to storage.

Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for the daily shipping and receiving functions in our facility ensuring smooth and consistent operations.

Shipping Responsibilities & Duties

• Identify and pick finished goods for shipping as designated by work orders. Items must be picked and then visually verified for accuracy relating to part number, quantity, product finishes, and/or order numbers.
• Maintains Shipping records, including providing tracking or shipping history information
• Prepare, package, document outgoing materials.
• Enter and maintain accurate inventory of materials and supplies in the ERP system
• Stage loading and unloading areas with appropriate equipment, materials and space.
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with Purchasing department to rectify damages and shortages
• Build skids of goods for truck shipment. Tasks include selecting sequence that the goods are stacked and choosing the appropriate packing materials (i.e. Wrap and strap, skid packs, crates, etc.) in order to assure material is delivered in good condition to its destination.
• Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Operate machinery to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years successful experience in shipping and/or receiving and material handling
• Ability to prioritize workload in order to facilitate on time shipment of ready goods.
• High sense of urgency; Good math and logic/ and recording abilities
• Excellent organizational skills
• Fast learner, hardworking, prompt, dedicated and responsible
• Ability to meet physical requirements of position

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Continually required to stand for long periods of time
• Continually required to walk
• While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually loud
• Occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs
• May require usage of specialized equipment: dollies, pallet jacks, and forklift in loading and unloading, conveying, moving, and lifting materials to appropriate areas.
