Brief Description

Reporting to the Shipping & Receiving Manager, the Shipping Specialist will perform duties related to the shipment of products to suppliers and customers. This position will assist in on‑time delivery of product, as well as delivery of product to outsourced suppliers and vendors. Additionally, the Shipping Specialist will interact and communicate with all levels of the supply chain, including vendors, suppliers, internal management, engineers, and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Prepare shipments by reviewing job travelers and inspection paperwork for completeness and accuracy, obtaining supporting documentation from database and reviewing against ERP system, and preparing box for shipment.
• Process shipment in ERP system by inputting data from the job traveler.
• Process miscellaneous shipments.
• Write purchase orders for outside supplier operations and process receipts upon return.
• Issue sub‑components to manufacturing.
• Follow established departmental policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and control standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High‑school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Previous shipping/receiving experience is preferred.
• Strong computer skills, preferably with experience in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, are required.
• Attention to detail and the ability to problem solve are required.
• The ability to work independently with minimal guidance within a fast, team‑based work environment is required.
• Strong communication skills needed to interact with internal customers, as well as external customers, at all levels within the company are required.
