Lifetime Brands is seeking an experienced seasoned Shipping Specialist to join our Shipping department in our brand new Hagerstown, MD Distribution Center. In this position, you will oversee pre-shipment routing compliance and carrier coordination for Lifetime’s major retail accounts, including Walmart, Target, Kohl's, Amazon, TJ Maxx , and Meijer. Additionally, you will manage the EDI routing request/response cycle, handle carrier tendering via TMS (Traffic Management System), and verify that all BOLs (Bills of Lading) contain precise routing data prior to shipment. You must have experience in retail shipping.
Responsibilities
Validate routing numbers (carrier assignment, TP Load #, ME#) are correctly reflected on BOLs before Master BOL combine.
Coordinate with TMS (or freight broker/FAP vendor) for tendering on non-retailer-routed freight
Identify ready-date mismatches, missing routing responses, or carrier assignment conflicts before they become compliance violations or chargebacks.
Maintain account-specific routing compliance documentation (Kohl's BOL02/CID#, Transplace requirements, Walmart/Amazon routing guides)
Process EDI 753 routing requests and reconcile 754 routing responses against SCALE WMS ready-to-ship data.
Support daily meetings with shipping supervisor(s) on account status and open routing issues
Maintain and update routing SOPs as processes evolve.
Required Skills
High school diploma or equivalent qualification; college coursework in logistics is highly desirable.
3-5 years of hands-on experience in freight routing, dispatching, or shipping operations.
Deep understanding of carrier networks, freight quote tools, and routing software.
Familiarity with EDI 753/754 transaction sets for retailer-driven routing processes.
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), with Manhattan SCALE preference.
Exposure to Transportation Management Systems (TMS) like OTM, MercuryGate, or Blue Yonder, covering rate shopping, carrier management, and tendering.
Prior background working with Transplace or equivalent routing intermediaries.
Familiarity with Freight Audit & Pay (FAP) software platforms.
Proficiency in the Google Office Suite of products and Microsoft Excel is required.
Solid foundation in retail vendor compliance, including BOL requirements, routing guides, and penalty avoidance.
Exceptional attention to detail, serving as a vital gatekeeper for chargeback prevention rather than performing simple data entry.
Other duties may be required, which may include working on the warehouse floor as needed.
Ability to sit, stand and walk and be able to lift at times.
