Job summary

Howden, a Chart Industries Company, is hiring a Shipping/Crater Rigger for our Windsor, CT location. The role involves inspecting items, building crates, preparing shipments, and rigging to move equipment safely.

The candidate should be able to read blueprints and tape measures, operate a forklift, lift up to 50 lbs, and follow safety protocols. Collaboration and precise work on a production floor are essential.

Qualifications

• GED/High School diploma required.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and instructions.
• Ability to drive a forklift.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Attention to detail and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Inspect product and determine crate details from blueprints and specs.
• Design, measure and cut wood to build crates for shipping of non-standard items.
• Prepare machines for shipment with nameplates, decals, tags, and guards as required.
• Crate items and secure with bolts or strapping.
• Label and identify packaged items with appropriate markings.
• Move goods per work orders and load trucks as directed.
• Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment; hoist loads safely.
• Locate items to be moved and transport per sequences.
• Store parts neatly in assigned areas.
• Assist with other Shipping, Receiving and Inventory tasks as needed.
