Job summary

Dana Incorporated is seeking a Material Supervisor in Napoleon, OH, to lead receiving, inventory control, and distribution aligned with production schedules. Qualifications

  • 4+ years in manufacturing experience; union experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • MRP system experience (SAP)
  • Leadership – experience leading, managing 5+ associates
  • Safety conscious – involved, lead, completed manufacturing safety courses.
  • Quality conscious – involved, lead corrective actions and countermeasure improvements.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, and develop a team of material handlers and clerks, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles.
  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP) to track, adjust, and report material movements.
  • Effective communication with cross-functional teams (production, logistics, procurement).
  • Ability to quickly resolve material flow issues or discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee receiving, storing, and distributing materials to ensure timely support of production and shipping schedules.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training and guidance to material handlers, clerks, and technicians.
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and ensure proper documentation and system updates (e.g., in SAP or other ERP systems).
  • Collaborate with production, logistics, procurement, and quality teams to resolve material flow issues and support operational efficiency.
  • Plans and directs activities and daily operations of Shipping/Receiving personnel.
  • Coordinate all outbound shipments with personnel.
  • Oversees forklift upkeep & maintenance.
  • Verify and resolve any receiving issues using the system generated reports and inbound paperwork.
  • Maintain ISO/TS certification in all aspects of the material handling flow process.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Job Purpose To lead and manage the materials team in executing efficient receiving, inventory control, and distribution processes, while ensuring compliance with safety standards, optimizing inventory levels, and supporting production schedules. The Material Supervisor acts as a key link between warehouse operations, production, and supply chain management.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversee receiving, storing, and distributing materials to ensure timely support of production and shipping schedules.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training and guidance to material handlers, clerks, and technicians.
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and ensure proper documentation and system updates (e.g., in SAP or other ERP systems).

  • Plans and directs activities and daily operations of Shipping/Receiving personnel.
  • Coordinate all outbound shipments with personnel.

  • Manage all inbound shipments
  • Oversees and corrects cycle counts, discrepancies, and inventory accuracy.
  • Plans, implements, improves material storage, layout and min/max replenishment levels.
  • Oversees forklift upkeep & maintenance.
  • Provides direction and feedback participation for label printing, receipts, and ASN accuracy.
  • Coordinate and maintain accurate records for all outbound shipments of work in process materials.
  • Verify and resolve any receiving issues using the system generated reports and inbound paperwork.
  • Maintaining ISO/TS certification in all aspects of the material handling flow process.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Education And Qualifications
