Job summary

Butterball is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to verify and record incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for dispatch. You will assemble, label, and ship merchandise, receive and unpack items, and coordinate transportation when needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, Hi-Lo experience, and at least 1 year in shipping/receiving. Strong English skills and basic computer literacy are essential for accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Hi-Lo experience required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in shipping and receiving position preferred.
• Work Keys: National Career Readiness Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments.
• Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading and shipping orders to route materials.
• Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
• Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting and record keeping purposes.
• Confer and correspond with shipping supervisor to rectify problems such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications.
• Responsible for storing shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
• Deliver or route materials to departments using work devices such as a hand truck or hi-lo.
• Maintain/Conduct Inventory Control.
• Organize and maintain appearance of dock freezers and coolers, including tempering room and dock hallway
• Utilize FIFO procedures for all incoming and outgoing materials.
