Shipping & Receiving Specialist - Full Time (Finance)
Position Summary
This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth and precise flow of materials essential for daily shipping and production operations. The position involves coordinating activities related to receipt, storage, inventory management, issuance, and shipping of materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts within stockroom, warehouse, or yard environments. This is a FULL TIME position.
Position Requirements
- Manage key Quality Operating System (QOS) metrics, including gross margins, scrap, labor efficiency, safety, equipment utilization (OEE), on-time delivery, training, inventories, overtime costs, customer satisfaction, and expense spending.
- Prepare shipments routed via company drivers and common carriers, scheduling daily pick-ups and deliveries.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for outbound shipments, ensuring timely pickups.
- Maintain meticulous records in accordance with record retention policies for all shipping and receiving files.
- Utilize the company ERP system to schedule, package, and prepare customer and supplier shipments, ensuring adherence to schedules.
- Facilitate international shipments, ensuring compliance with export regulations.
- Handle miscellaneous shipments such as overnight letters, returned goods, and shipments via carriers like FedEx and UPS.
- Inspect received products for damage, process related paperwork, and communicate status to relevant personnel.
- Maintain a professional image through daily interactions with employees, customers, suppliers, and freight carriers.
- Keep the warehouse clean and audit-ready at all times.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of EDI transactions.
- Promote safety awareness in warehouse operations.
- Coordinate unloading/loading of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
- Document customer-specific shipping requirements.
- Implement and follow work instructions for warehouse operations.
- Operate various material handling, packaging, and warehouse equipment.
- Work with carriers to expedite or trace deliveries as needed.
- Complete daily checklists for material handling equipment.
- Ensure shipping paperwork accuracy and complete quality audits of outgoing shipments.
- Manage inventory of freight supplies and reorder as necessary.
- Coordinate with the Buyer-Planner on material movements and requirements.
- Be available for overtime work when required.
- Observe Fleet Safety Program requirements when operating a vehicle for work.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and adhere to SSI Technologies, LLC policies, including Quality Management and ISO 14001 standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Professional/Technical Experience, Skills, and Education
- Associate's Degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record required.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months) required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office required.
- Previous material handling and forklift experience preferred.
- At least one (1) year of shipping/receiving experience required.
