Job Posting: Shipping & Receiving Clerk / Box Truck Driver (Non-CDL)
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Clerk / Box Truck Driver (Non-CDL) to join our team in support of our luxury furniture operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe handling, packaging, transportation, and delivery of high-end furniture while maintaining the quality and craftsmanship our brand is known for.
Position Summary
The ideal candidate will combine warehouse, shipping, and receiving experience with safe driving practices and excellent customer service. This role requires operation of a non-CDL box truck (under 26,000 lbs.) for local and regional deliveries, along with warehouse support including packing, loading, inventory management, and shipment preparation.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving
- Accurately receive, inspect, and process incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Track inventory using warehouse systems, scanners, shipping manifests, or inventory logs.
- Pull, pack, stage, and prepare furniture and related materials for customer delivery or internal transfer.
- Review shipping documentation including packing slips, bills of lading, manifests, and delivery paperwork.
- Load and unload furniture and materials using pallet jacks, hand trucks, forklifts, or other material‑handling equipment.
- Inspect products, packaging materials, and containers to ensure items are protected from damage during shipment.
- Assemble cartons, crates, and protective packaging materials for high‑end furniture shipments.
- Wrap cushions and delicate furniture components using plastic wrap, foam, blankets, and other protective materials.
- Label cartons, containers, and products accurately to ensure proper routing and delivery.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and shipping area.
Delivery / Box Truck Operations
- Safely operate a 16-26 ft. box truck for local or regional deliveries and pickups.
- Perform required pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections in compliance with company and DOT safety standards.
- Secure freight properly to prevent movement or damage during transport.
- Monitor vehicle condition including fluid levels, tire pressure, cleanliness, and maintenance needs.
- Report vehicle maintenance concerns promptly and assist with service scheduling.
- Deliver furniture to customer locations, showrooms, or company facilities while maintaining professionalism and care.
- Serve as a positive representative of the company when interacting with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of shipping, receiving, warehouse, furniture handling, or delivery experience preferred.
- Experience operating 16-26 ft. box trucks strongly preferred.
- Experience with forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret production tickets, shipping documents, and delivery instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality required.
- Ability to accept direction, adapt to changing priorities, and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
Driver Requirements
- Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and remain eligible under company driver standards.
- Participation in ongoing MVR monitoring is required as a condition of employment.
- Must successfully complete company driver qualification requirements.
- DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Medical Card) required or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday.
- Regularly lift, carry, push, and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds or more, with team assistance for oversized furniture.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks in warehouse and delivery environments.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- This position regularly works in warehouse, shipping dock, manufacturing, and delivery environments. Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, changing temperatures, dust, and active loading areas.
