Albany is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Associate for the 1st shift (M-F, 7A-3P). The role focuses on efficient material handling, SAP transactions, and on-time delivery coordination with production teams. FIFO/FEFO accuracy, weekly inventories, and safety compliance are key responsibilities.

You will work with the stockroom, warehouse, and shop floor to ensure smooth flow of materials, packaging, and outbound shipments while maintaining organized work areas and adhering to company policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; experience may substitute education.
  • SAP system experience preferred; forklift certification required or obtainable.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Daily material handling activities at the facility.
  • Deliver and pick up materials and Kanban cards on scheduled routes.
  • Coordinate with stockroom, warehouse and shop floor teams for material flow.
  • Perform weekly inventory counts and ensure FIFO/FEFO accuracy.
  • Prepare outbound shipments and relevant documentation.
  • Operate forklift and related material handling equipment safely.
  • Follow safety policies and observe 5S housekeeping in receiving areas.

Position: Shipping and Receiving Associate - 1st Shift M-F 7A-3P

Job Purpose:

The Shipping and Receiving Associate efficiently manages daily material handling operations at the AEC, including the delivery and pickup of materials, inventory management, and coordination with production teams to ensure smooth material flow. This position involves performing SAP transactions, preparing shipments, adhering to safety and regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvements in safety, quality, and operational efficiency while maintaining organized work areas and supporting departmental objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Daily material handling activities at the AEC
  • Deliver and pick up materials, parts, and Kanban cards on designated water spider routes at designated times
  • Work with VSLs, Team leads and Quality Techs with material flow between the stockroom, warehouse and the shop floor
  • Work with Stockroom Attendant to prepare materials to be delivered to Production
  • Perform weekly inventory counts
  • Ensure batch/lot (FIFO & FEFO) on material being transacted
  • Assist with hardware kits to support production needs
  • Perform all relevant SAP transactions and reporting
  • Loading and unloading freight vehicles with forklift and necessary material handling equipment
  • Package material for transport/storage as required
  • Work flexible hours to achieve daily departmental objectives
  • Understand and work on customer shipment schedules
  • Prepare outbound shipments and make necessary logistics arrangements
  • Prepare all outbound shipment documentation
  • Observe Safety policies, programs and initiatives including work place organization
  • Ensure that all company and governmental policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in solving problems.
  • Drive continuous improvements in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Housekeeping and organization (5S) of the work areas (Receiving, Stockroom and Warehouse)
  • Interact and coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.

Qualifications:
Knowledge:
  • High school/ Associates degree or equivalent experience. Experience may be substituted for education at management’s discretion
  • Valid driver’s license
  • SAP system experience preferred
  • Shipping and Receiving experience preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Detail oriented in terms of documentation
Skills:

  • Complete forklift and powerlift certification
  • Safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment and be able to pass certification
Abilities:
  • Computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, SAP)
  • Complete IATA, IMG and ground Dangerous Goods certification as required
  • Perform Shipping and Receiving functions as required
  • Ability to communicate in English via written and spoken words
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50lbs.
  • Proper use of safety and personal protective equipment
Working Conditions:

Indoor production environment, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, overtime dependent on business need.

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently positions sheets of material onto molds and/or manually sands parts, etc…
  • Frequent repetitive hand movements, use of hand tools - pliers, sanders, scissors, etc…
  • Frequently remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
  • Must be able to detect and recognize visual differences between materials or parts, etc…
  • Frequently moves molds and parts >25 lbs between worktables and carts
