Job summary

The Recruiting Hive in Harlan, IA is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate to verify outgoing shipments, prepare items for shipment, and maintain shipping records. You will handle packing, labeling, and container preparation while coordinating with internal teams on priorities.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving, forklift or crane experience (training provided), and familiarity with measuring devices and export paperwork.

Qualifications

1-2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience.
Forklift experience a plus, will train
Overhead crane experience a plus, will train
Experience with measurement devices a must
Crating or carpentry experience a plus, will train
UPS Worldship experience a plus
Export paperwork experience a plus
Understanding SDS/Hazcom shipping regulations

Responsibilities

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines the method of shipment.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Inserts items into containers.
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move shipments from shipping platform to storage area.
Studies shipping notices to determine shipping priorities and methods.
Inspects shipping activities for accuracy and condition.
Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging for conformance to specifications.
Counts items packed against customer orders.
Performs clerical tasks such as data entry and filing.
Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
