Job summary

Modern Machining Solutions Inc in Harlan, Iowa, seeks a Shipping & Receiving Associate to verify outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment. You will weigh, label, and document shipments and support clerical tasks related to shipping operations.

The role requires 1–2 years of shipping/receiving experience, with forklift and crane training provided as needed. Familiarity with SDS/Hazcom regulations is a plus.

Qualifications

1-2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience.
Forklift experience a plus; will train.
Overhead crane experience a plus; will train.
Experience with measurement devices is a must.
Export paperwork experience is a plus; SDS/Hazcom shipping regulations understood.

Responsibilities

Verify and record outgoing shipments against bills of lading and invoices.
Determine shipment method and affix shipping labels.
Package items into containers and secure crates as needed.
Move shipments using forklift or hand-truck.
Inspect shipments for accuracy and conformance to specs.
Perform clerical tasks and data entry related to shipments.

Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Associate

Salary: $18-22/hour

Job Summary of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

The Shipping & Receiving Associate will verify and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines the method of shipment.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Insert items into containers.
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
Inspect shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents for conformance to company specifications.
Compares items packed with customer's orders and other identifying data.
Performs clerical tasks such as computer data entry, typing correspondence, and keeping files.
Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
