Job summary

The Keystone Distinction Group is hiring for a Shipping & Receiving Associate in Harlan, IA. The role involves verifying outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment, and maintaining packaging records.

• 1-2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience.
• Forklift experience a plus, will train.
• Overhead crane experience a plus, will train.
• Experience with measurement devices a must.
• Crating or carpentry experience a plus, will train.
• UPS Worldship experience a plus.
• Export paperwork experience a plus.
• Understanding SDS/Hazcom shipping regulations.

Responsibilities

• Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determines the method of shipment.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
• Insert items into containers.
• Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
• Inspect shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents for conformance to company specifications.
• Compares items packed with customer's orders and other identifying data.
• Performs clerical tasks such as computer data entry, typing correspondence, and keeping files.
• Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
