Job summary

RRC Solutions Group in Harlan, Iowa is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate to verify outgoing shipments, prepare items for dispatch, and maintain records. You will select shipping methods, label cartons, and operate a forklift or hand-truck to move items to storage or work areas.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years shipping/receiving experience, forklift or crane training, and familiarity with measurement devices and SDS/HazCom rules.

Qualifications

1-2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience.
Forklift experience a plus, will train.
Overhead crane experience a plus, will train.
Experience with measurement devices a must.
Crating or carpentry experience a plus, will train.
UPS Worldship experience a plus.
Export paperwork experience a plus.
Understanding SDS/HazCom shipping regulations.

Responsibilities

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify against records.
Determines the method of shipment and affixes labels on cartons.
Assembles containers and inserts items for shipment.
Moves shipments with forklift or hand-truck to storage or work area.
Stamps or glues shipping information onto crates and records costs.
Posts weights and shipping charges and affixes postage.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure specifications and accuracy.
Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
Performs clerical data entry and keeps files.

Job Summary of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

The Shipping & Receiving Associate will v erify and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines the method of shipment.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Insert items into containers.
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
Inspect shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents for conformance to company specifications.
Compares items packed with customer's orders and other identifying data.
Performs clerical tasks such as computer data entry, typing correspondence, and keeping files.
Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
