Job summary

Lear Corporation in Traverse City, MI is seeking a Shipping/Receiving trainee to pack orders, create shipping labels, load and unload trucks, and operate a Hi-Lo. You will stock incoming parts and maintain a clean, safe work area while ensuring adherence to EH&S rules.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic math, and basic PC skills. You will perform weight counts, document moves, and assist inventory while contributing to efficient order fulfillment in a busy manufacturing

  • Comply with all Environment, Health, and Safety EH&S rules and procedures.
  • Ability to pass OSHA Hi-Lo test; possession of Hi-Lo license required.

Job Description

Pack orders according to customer requirements. Make shipping labels. Load and unload trucks. Operate hi-lo. Construct boxes. Retrieve stock. Stock incoming parts/material. Perform weight counts, as necessary, and adjust inventory. Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area. Perform other duties related to shipping and receiving as required by supervisor.


START RATE: $22.39


Responsibilities


  • Basic store keeping knowledge

  • Basic understanding of personal computers.

  • Receiving goods

  • Packing orders according to customer requirements including banding, weighing, and wrapping shipments. Finished orders are staged for loading.

  • Pulling/moving parts by matching move and reel tags. Document move tags as necessary.

  • Making bar codes and attaching them to boxes per customer requirements.

  • Loading and unloading trucks.

  • Operate Hi-Lo truck

  • Construct boxes

  • Visual inspection before packaging product for the customer.

  • Put incoming plating/audit parts away.

  • Perform weight counts.

  • Stock cardboard as needed.

  • Compact discarded packing/shipping material (boxes, etc).

  • Conduct inventory of boxes and reels.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.

  • Ability to use independent judgment in packing, stacking, and arranging shipments, and prioritize jobs.

  • Basic understanding of personal computers including processing reports by retrieving selected information and entering data.

  • Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids which may be representative but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work: Personal Computer, Hi-Lo truck, Scale, Bander, Wrapping Machine, Staple Guns, Box Maker, UPS Machine, and Compactor.

  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor.


Job Requirements


  • High school diploma or GED required.

Evaluations

Shipping and Receiving trainee evaluation will be made on a weekly basis.


Training will follow the training plan.


There is a 60-day qualification period.


Working Conditions

Degree of Physical Demands (Strength) usually associated with this classification:


Lifting packages up to 70 pounds. Walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and occasional crouching.


Environmental conditions (Physical Surroundings) usually associated with this classification:


The associate is subject to environmental conditions common to a plant environment, including cramped conditions between presses and enclosures. Some exposure to loud noise and oil.


Environmental conditions (Hazards) usually associated with this classified:


Exposure to Hi-Lo traffic, battery charger, possible cuts from material tail and banding, occasional exposure to wet or slippery dock plates.
