Job description

Shipper, 1st shift, 7am-4pm, $20-$22/hr

Shipping, Receiving, and Traffic Clerks

Job Purpose:

Verify and keep records on outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material.

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

1. Identify, accurately count, and pick product as needed to fulfill work orders.
2. Compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of outgoing shipment.
3. Prepare and package shipment.
4. Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders, to route materials.
5. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
6. Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
7. Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
8. Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
