Job description

Shipper, 1st shift, 7am-4pm, $20-$22/hr

Job Title: Shipping, Receiving, and Traffic Clerk

Job Purpose:

Verify and keep records on outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or materials.

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

1. Identify, accurately count, and pick products as needed to fulfill work orders.
2. Compare items with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy of outgoing shipments.
3. Prepare and package shipments.
4. Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
5. Record shipment data, including weight, charges, space availability, and damages or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping.
6. Determine the shipping method for materials, based on knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
7. Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
8. Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements and issue instructions for shipping and delivery.
