Job summary

Pratt Industries in Sandston, VA is seeking a Shipping Lead for the 2nd shift. This is a full-time, hourly role reporting to the Shipping Manager and overseeing daily Shipping Department activities to meet delivery expectations.

You will coordinate forklift operators, schedule deliveries, maintain bills of lading accuracy, and ensure inventory locations are correct while enforcing company policies. The position requires a high school diploma and forklift operator experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Able to speak, read, comprehend and write in English.
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
• Qualified Shipping Forklift Operator expected.
• One year experience as a Forklift Operator preferred.
• Supervisory experience as a manager/leader preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Shipping Department activities to meet customer delivery expectations using cost-effective methods.
• Implement, maintain and support all company policies and procedures.
• Coordinate forklift operators in loading trailers per customer specifications.
• Schedule deliveries cost-effectively while meeting customer expectations.
• Coordinate and communicate with Customer Service concerning delivery of product to customers.
• Prepare Bills of Lading accurately.
• Review forklift inspection sheets and arrange maintenance as needed.
• Ensure accurate stock locations in the shipping warehouse.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.

Overview

Job Description

• Oversee Shipping Department activities using the most cost effective methods possible while meeting customer delivery expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain and support all company policies and procedures.
• Provide training as necessary.
• Conduct shift overlap meetings with oncoming shift Supervisor to minimize errors.
• Coordinate forklift operators in the daily routine of loading trailers according to customer specifications.
• Schedule deliveries using the most cost efficient, and time saving manner possible while still meeting customer expectations.
• Coordinate and communicate with Customer Service concerning delivery of product to customers.
• Accurately prepare bills of lading.
• Review forklift inspection sheets daily and prepare maintenance work orders for needed repairs.
• Ensure accurate stock locations in the shipping warehouse.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.
