Job summary

Southern Hobby Distribution, LLC. is seeking a Shipping Lead in Missouri to oversee outbound shipping operations and support the shipping team in daily activities.

You will ensure orders are packed and labeled correctly, verify weights/dimensions, and maintain shipment SLAs while coordinating with leadership and production for accurate shipping records.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the shipping process and support shipping team members during daily operations.
• Stay abreast of shipping procedural updates and communicate with leadership.
• Ensure outbound orders are properly packed, labeled, and meet shipment SLA and SHD standards.
• Confirm tickets, packing slips, shipping labels align with weights and dimensions, and carrier selection.
• Perform 100% checks to ensure accuracy before orders are loaded.
• Direct down-stackers in loading, closing, and preparing trucks.
• Ensure FedEx orders are packed, labelled and palletized correctly.
• Monitor workflow and help resolve bottlenecks or delays.
• Support documentation and secure handling of Will Call/Walk-in pickups and LTL/FTL carrier pickups.
• Maintain a clean, end-of-day 5S housekeeping.
• Review end-of-day shipping reports and coordinate with Production Lead.
• Assist with quarterly and yearly inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

The Southern Hobby Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing all outbound shipping processes to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality order fulfillment. This role supports the performance and daily operations of the shipping team, with a focus on maintaining workflow, verifying shipment accuracy, and ensuring compliance with shipping standards and customer expectations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Oversee the shipping process and support shipping team members during daily operations
• Stay abreast of shipping procedural updates, modifications and multi-point communications with leadership
• Ensure all outbound orders are properly packed, labeled, and meet shipment SLA and SHD standards (Same Day, Next Day, 2-Day Ground, Air etc.)
• Confirm that order tickets, packing slips, and shipping labels align 100% of the time including weights and dimensions, as well as carrier selection
• Perform 100% checks to ensure accuracy and completeness before orders are loaded
• Direct down-stackers in loading, closing, and preparing trucks for daily outbound shipments
• Ensure outbound FedEx orders are packed, labelled and palletized correctly
• Monitor shipping station workflow and assist in resolving process bottlenecks or delays
• Support documentation and secure handling of all Will Call/Walk-in customer pickups
• Support documentation and secure handling of all LTL/FTL carrier pickups
• Maintain a clean and organized work area; enforce end-of-day 5S housekeeping practices
• Review end-of-day shipping reports to confirm all outbound orders are complete and accurate; coordinate with the Production Lead to ensure all required orders are marked as shipped in the system
• Assist with quarterly and yearly inventory
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
