Job summary

Colorado Premium is seeking a Shipping Lead to provide direct support to the shipping supervisor and guide shipping employees in quality, service, and policy compliance. The role prioritizes safety, employee development, teamwork, and coaching to optimize product flow between plants, cold storage, and customers.

Key duties include guiding daily shipping operations, prioritizing tasks, training staff, and maintaining accurate documentation while supporting continuous improvement and budget goals.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required; some college preferred.
  • Three years progressive experience in shipping operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (invoices, policies).
  • Basic math: add/subtract/multiply/divide with whole numbers and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in guiding day-to-day shipping operations to ensure orders are filled correctly and timely.
  • Support supervisor with prioritizing and delegating work assignments.
  • Monitor productivity and safety, promote engagement and teamwork.

Job Title: Shipping LeadReports to: Warehouse / Shipping SupervisorSummary: This position is responsible for providing direct support to the shipping supervisor byproviding tactical guidance to shipping employees. The actively support and guide shipping employeesto optimize quality, service and to comply with company policies and procedures. The safety,development and retention of your team is your highest priority. Visibly supports production, and foodsafety, employee engagement, teamwork, and coaching. Ensures the execution of distribution andtransportation planning, strategic activities, and product flow between plants, cold storage, andcustomers.Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Assist in guiding the day-to-day shipping operations of the business to ensure orders are filledcorrectly, and the distribution of product is timely and accurate. Support the department supervisorregarding shipping activities, including prioritizing, and delegating work assignments. Optimizeshipping and housekeeping functions as necessary. Trains and provides an environment foremployees to achieve their maximum quality and productivity performance in their respectivepositions.• Support efforts in assigned areas of responsibility related to loss prevention, risk management,USDA compliance, and employee relations. Promotes department and company goodwill throughproactive employee communication and employee involvement. As an active participant, supportsthe training & development and retention of qualified talent. Leads the training and development ofexisting staff to ensure engagement and succession planning bench strength as appropriate.• Ensures that employees understand the department’s Performance Measurement Standards (e.g.productivity, attendance, tardiness, safety, and quality), and notifies the department supervisor ofpotential or actual issues. Communicates with employees regarding pertinent information for daily,event or seasonal business issues. Monitors individual employee’s productivity to ensure it supportsbusiness objectives. Actively works to build an engaged workforce through the training of staff andthe reduction of turnover.• Works with the supervisor to maintain product knowledge, load accuracy, and documentation/manifesting to support budget goals and efficiencies. Provides information to support processes andmethods, while actively championing continuous improvement. Helps optimize the equipmentperformance, people utilization, product quality and safety objectives. Acts as a tactical resource tothe supervisor so he/she can address and resolve inquiries and problems regarding production,quality, and work problems.• Performs routine walking and visual inspections of the shipping floor in observation of unsafe actsor conditions; takes immediate corrective action where necessary to develop and meet plant safetygoals. Is actively involved in safety efforts including, attending safety meetings, incidentinvestigations, assisting in root cause analysis, auditing, as assigned. Ability to compute rate, ratio, andpercentage correctly. Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated withoperational-level process issues.#INDSJ
