Job summary

Compass Minerals seeks a Shipping Clerk at the Duluth plant to coordinate shipments, track inventory, and manage scheduling for deliveries and pickups. This role serves as the main contact for customers, trucking firms, and plant staff to ensure timely product movement while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

The Shipping Clerk will produce and review daily/weekly reports, support railcar coordination, and collaborate with production teams on inventory transactions and lot code

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred; or equivalent education/experience.
• Minimum of two years of experience in shipping, logistics, dispatching, transportation, inventory control, or related operations.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Demonstrated accuracy in data entry, recordkeeping, and administrative tasks.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE), JWS, or similar ERP systems preferred.
• Experience with inventory management, barcode systems, and order-picking software preferred.
• Knowledge of trucking operations, bulk terminal operations, or warehouse/shipping environments preferred.
• Advanced Excel or database management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate the truck scale for inbound/outbound shipments and maintain accurate records.
• Schedule daily pickup/delivery appointments with transportation providers and plant personnel.
• Maintain daily shipping and pickup schedules to optimize product movement.
• Maintain inventory and product transfer records.
• Process and distribute production and shipping reports weekly/monthly.
• Serve as first point of contact for visitors, customers, and truck drivers.
• Monitor inventory levels to support efficient shipping schedules and order fulfillment.
• Adjust schedules based on production output and inventory availability.
• Troubleshoot issues related to inventory management, barcoding, and order-picking.
