Job summary

Fastenal is hiring an energetic Shipping assistant for our Jessup, PA distribution center. This entry-level full-time role focuses on organizing outgoing orders, loading shipments by hand, pallet jack, or forklift, and keeping work areas clean and safe.

You will operate RF scanners, label products, and verify correct labeling while following health and safety guidelines. A flexible schedule may be offered after onboarding and performance milestones are met.

• Utilizing load truck reports to locate product for outgoing shipments.
• Ensuring proper load securement for transport.
• Verifying product is correctly labeled for easy identification and delivery.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of work area.
• Complying with health, safety and sustainability rules and expectations.
• Participating in activities and programs that help the company achieve health, safety and sustainability objectives.
• Learning, passing, and practicing various environmental health and safety trainings.

OVERVIEW:

Find your future at Fastenal! Our distribution center is hiring energetic, team oriented individuals to work in our fast pace warehouse! Working as Full-Time Shipping, you will help facilitate the movement of product throughout our distribution center. You will be responsible for organizing all outgoing orders, loading product into trucks by hand, pallet jack, or by forklift. This is an entry-level position based out of our distribution center located at 1225 Mid Valley Dr, Jessup, PA 18434. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• 18 years of age or over, due to the nature of work
• Proficient written and oral communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
• Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency
• Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
• Work independently as well as in a team environment
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule/extra time as needed

• Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 100lbs
• Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)
• Successfully pass a post offer pre-employment drug screen, background check, and previous employment verification, required by a customer/contract serviced by this location

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience operating a forklift
