Job summary

MSC Industrial Supply Co. in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a full-time Warehouse/Distribution associate to ensure accurate outgoing orders, including product, paperwork, and packaging prior to shipment.

You will verify parts, handle packaging requirements, prepare third-party shipments, and operate the picker and forklift while maintaining clean workstations and following safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have thorough knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory procedures and product.
• Handles difficult situations; Responds promptly and appropriately to requests for service and assistance.

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should be PC literate with a good working knowledge of Windows and P21; read simple instructions and memos, and present information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Preforms visual verification to ensure parts and quantity are correct.
• Appropriately addresses any packaging requirements / flow down
• Ensures appropriate shipping package is used
• Prepares all 3rd party (UPS, FedEx, LTL) packages for shipment
• Prepares all bulk packing for intercompany transfer and deliveries
• Maintains shipping production based on route shipping schedules and expectations
• Maintains Shipping Error Log (Under the Quality Management System)
• During the shipping process, verifies the appropriate product allocation and troubleshoot any allocation issues
• Operate the picker & forklift
• Maintains clean workstations (neat and organized)
• Follows OSHA standards and product safety, following FOD
• Reports safety issues to management
• Assists in other functions of the Warehouse
• Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company
• Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
