Job summary

MSC Industrial Supply Co. in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a detail-oriented Warehouse Associate to ensure the accuracy of outgoing orders, verify parts and quantities, and prepare shipments for third-party carriers.

You will perform packing, maintain shipping logs, operate the picker and forklift, and uphold quality and safety standards. A high school diploma is required, with prior shipping/inventory experience preferred; this is a full-time role with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience with thorough knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory procedures.
• Handles difficult situations; Responds promptly and appropriately to requests for service and assistance.

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should be PC literate with a good working knowledge of Windows and P21 and able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

• Maintains Shipping Error Log and notifies supervisor
• Verifies product allocation during shipping and troubleshoots allocation issues
• Operates the picker and forklift
• Maintains clean, organized workstations and follows Quality Standards
• Follows OSHA standards and product safety requirements
• Reports safety issues to management
• Assists in other warehouse functions as needed
• Fosters MSC Culture and participates in special projects

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
To ensure the accuracy of all outgoing orders for both our internal and external customers with regard to product, paperwork, and packaging prior to shipment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preforms visual verification to ensure parts and quantity are correct

• Appropriately addresses any packaging requirements / flow down

• Ensures appropriate shipping package is used

• Prepares all 3rd party (UPS, FedEx, LTL) packages for shipment

• Prepares all bulk packing for intercompany transfer and deliveries

• Maintains shipping production based on route shipping schedules and expectations

• Maintains Shipping Error Log (Under the Quality Management System), then notify appropriate supervisor

• During the shipping process, verifies the appropriate product allocation and troubleshoot any allocation issues

• Operate the picker & fork lift

• Maintains clean workstations (including neat and organized) based off our Quality Standards

• Follows OSHA standards and product safety, following FOD

• Reports any safety issues immediately to management if needing assistance

• Assists in other functions of the Warehouse as necessary

• Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.

• Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have thorough knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory procedures and product.

Compensation starting at $16.00- $19.88 per hour depending on candidate location and experience.
