Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts safely to move rolls of fabric, finished goods, raw materials, pallets, and other textile products.
  • Load and unload trucks according to shipping schedules and established safety procedures.
  • Verify quantities, product identification, roll numbers, lot numbers, and shipping information before materials are moved or shipped.
  • Prepare finished textile products for shipment, including wrapping, labeling, palletizing, and staging.
  • Pull and stage orders according to customer orders, production requirements, and shipping priorities.
  • Inspect shipments for visible damage and report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Complete shipping paperwork, bills of lading, packing lists, labels, and other required documentation accurately.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and communicate inventory discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with production, warehouse, quality, and office personnel to ensure orders are shipped correctly and on time.
  • Keep shipping areas, loading docks, and warehouse locations clean, safe, and organized.
  • Properly store materials in designated locations to prevent damage and maintain efficient warehouse flow.
  • Follow all forklift operating procedures, OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and proper material-handling practices.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
  • Assist with counting and verifying inventory when required.
  • Assist with loading and unloading incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products.
  • Ensure textile rolls and other products are handled carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or incorrect shipments.
  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout the shipping and warehouse areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Position Summary

The Shipping / Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently preparing, loading, unloading, staging, and shipping textile materials and finished goods. This position operates a forklift and other material-handling equipment while maintaining accurate inventory, shipping documentation, and a clean and organized warehouse and shipping area.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials.
  • Ability to safely handle textile rolls, pallets, boxes, and other warehouse materials.
  • Ability to climb steps or ladders when necessary.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift for extended periods.

This position works primarily in a textile manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping environment. The employee may be exposed to moving equipment, machinery, dust, noise, varying temperatures, and heavy materials. Safety procedures and required PPE must be followed at all times.
