Shipping Department Coordinator
HOWW Manufacturing
Warehouse, Logistics & Purchasing | Full-Time | On-Site | Batavia, IL
Pay Rate: $25-27.00 per hour | Shift: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday
Every order we ship is the last thing a customer sees from us – and you'll help keep it complete and accurate. As our Shipping Department Coordinator, you'll run the shipping and receiving operation from the office: scheduling trucks, coordinating closely with carriers like UPS and FedEx, and keeping the whole operation organized and accountable.
The Shipping Department Coordinator supervises all shipping and receiving operations at a Howw Manufacturing operating company. You'll schedule inbound and outbound trucks, select the most economical shipping methods that still hit the delivery date, manage carrier relationships – particularly with UPS and FedEx – resolve lost or damaged shipments, and keep shipping records current.
This is primarily an office-based coordination role: the large majority of your time is spent planning, scheduling, and communicating rather than working the dock directly. You'll partner closely with Customer Service, production, and purchasing, and report to the General Manager or Plant Manager.
You start by scanning what's moving today and what could slip-then you set the pace with clear priorities. The morning is a rhythm of emails, calls, and quick check-ins as you align timing with carriers and internal teams. Midday, you're keeping details tight: confirming information, updating records, and making sure documentation is clean and ready when it's needed. When something changes-an ETA shifts, a shipment is questioned-you stay calm, dig in, and drive it to resolution. By day's end, you've kept the flow organized, the communication crisp, and the operation ready for tomorrow's volume.
We're guided by our North Star – enabling people to be their best every day – and by core values we look for in every teammate:
Physical: Occasional lifting/carrying up to ~40 lbs and time spent in a dock environment (weather, noise, dust, material-handling equipment) as needed to support the team.
Medical, dental, and vision coverage to help you take care of yourself and your family. A 401(k) to invest in what's next. Life insurance and a Health Savings Account for added peace of mind and flexibility. Plus Paid Time Off so you can truly recharge and come back ready to grow.
