Job summary

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions is seeking a Shipping Clerk to prepare and coordinate shipments for timely delivery. You will maintain required shipping records and ensure compliance with government procedures.

Responsibilities include preparing Bills of Lading, packing lists, invoices, and applying Haz-Mat shipping standards. Collaboration with carriers and internal teams is essential to optimize transportation time and cost.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years related experience in Supply Chain.
• HazMat Shipping Certification is required.
• APICS certification or pursuing certification preferred.
• College/university education in Supply Chain or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate shipments for on-time delivery of products.
• Prepare Bills of Lading, packing lists, invoices and related paperwork.
• Enter shipment requirements into Exostar and other systems.
• Acquire transportation quotes and arrange final shipping with carriers.
• Maintain shipping records per government procedures and company policy.
• Handle Haz-Mat shipments in compliance with 49 CFR and FAR requirements.
• Protect government furnished property and ensure proper paperwork distribution.

To prepare and coordinate shipments for accurate and on time delivery of product. Maintain Shipping records as required by GSS & government procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Requests Government Bills of Lading.
• Prepares DD250’s/WAWF per contract release.
• Prepares DD1149’s per FAR requirements.
• Enters shipment requirements into Exostar.
• Prepares Commercial Invoices.
• Prepares Packing Lists using online program.
• Prepares Bills of Lading.
• Proper distribution of all paperwork.
• Haz-Mat preparation and shipment per 49CFR.
• Regulations regarding Haz-Mat transportation.
• Identification and security of Government furnished property.
• Inventory report of all Finished Goods as required.
• Maintains Shipping department records.
• Acquiring transportation quotes.
• Makes final shipping arrangements with Freight Carriers/Forwarders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Packaging of small parts
• Preparing parts and paperwork for outsourcing. Complete all system transactions as required.
• Continually look for opportunities to improve manufacturing time and cost and provides data to support the improvements.

Experience And Skills

Advanced knowledge and application of MS Office Suite including Excel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required: College/university education in Supply Chain field or equivalent experience.

Required: 2 to 4 years related experience in Supply Chain.

Required: HazMat Shipping Certification.

Preferred: APICS Certification or in persuit of Certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Office environment.

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.

Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
