GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The role is responsible for performing key accounting activities that support accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across business operations.
Job Description
The role operates in a government contracting manufacturing environment and is responsible for maintaining accurate, traceable, and audit-ready financial records. The position utilizes Deltek Costpoint and works closely with the cost accounting manager, program managers, and other functional areas. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong accounting fundamentals, sound judgement, analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage significant accounting responsibilities. Experience in government contracting, Costpoint, manufacturing, aerospace or defense is highly desirable.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare invoices for federal government, state government, and commercial customers for various contract types, including CPFF, FFP, and T&M, ensuring audit-readiness of supporting schedules
- Assure that revenue recognition is accurate and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Follow all Company Policies and Procedures, State/Federal Laws and Regulations, and GAAP in the performance of duties, reporting any noncompliance
- Analyze key performance measures in order to establish and monitor overall company performance
- Coordinate with management monthly to ensure accurate profit margins for inventory job cost and revenue calculations
- Prepare and enter journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance prior to presenting for approval
- Support preparation of indirect rate application and projections, job costing, and financial report package schedules
- Provide support related to annual financial audits, government audits, provisional billing rates, and other auditor inquiries as requested
- Assist in the month and year end closing processes and procedures
Other Job Functions
- Evaluate contracts for proper revenue recognition method and prepare ASC 606 questionnaires
- Maintain monthly job costing schedule to include current revenue, costs, and profitability to ensure matching of revenue and costs on monthly financial for FFP contracts
- Prepare estimate at completion worksheets (EAC’s), job status reports, and financial CDRL support as requested
- Prepare external and internal audit documentation, coordinate audits with auditors, and provide auditor assistance and interpretation
- Write, maintain and improve procedures as necessary to facilitate the highest efficiency possible in all areas of the Company
- Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and a minimum of 3 years of applicable experience,
- Advanced experience in the use of a wide variety of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management systems, and related enterprise systems
- Experience working with government contractors and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is strongly preferred
- Previous experience using MRP programs, especially Deltek CostPoint
WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Office environment
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
