Job summary

Fair Oaks Foods seeks a shipping and receiving coordinator to manage activities related to picking, receiving, and preparing products for shipping on a national and international scale.

You will answer inbound inquiries, schedule deliveries, and ensure inventory accuracy while supporting supervisors and cross-functional teams in a manufacturing setting.

  • Coordinate work procedures and schedules; expedite workflow.
  • Communicate with management to coordinate warehouse activities.
  • Receive incoming products and materials; maintain inventory levels.
  • Provide back-up to Supervisor as needed.
  • Identify quality problems; document and action to prevent recurrence using VMS.

Job description

Position Summary

Coordinate activities of workers concerned with picking and receiving products and preparing it for shipping both nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities
  • Answer all inbound phone calls and emails in a timely manner
  • Ensure all trucks arriving at docks have set delivery appointments
  • Provide a weekly shipping and receiving schedule
  • Coordinate work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow
  • Communicate with management in the department and/or in the plant to ensure coordination of warehouse activities
  • Receive incoming products and materials
  • Maintain proper inventory levels within the plant for production needs
  • Provide support and back-up to Supervisor in his/her absence
  • Responsible for the quality of work performed and for identifying and documenting quality problems for corrective action and prevention of non-conforming products utilizing VMS
  • Manages department priorities – adjust as necessary to achieve maximum results
  • Maintain proper inventory levels, monitor levels during production run, and bring forward inventory issues before we run out of items
  • Monitor and communicate to supervision about damaged product write-offs
  • Monitor and work with employees to reduce inventory adjustments
  • Ensure rework is cycled out to production for usage daily
  • Ensure inventory-related procedures are followed daily
  • Ensure finished goods inventory is rotated properly avoiding old age issues due to shipping
  • Develop a full understanding of EDI, SAP, and VMS system
  • Ensure SSOP’s being completed daily (which includes housekeeping issues i.e. freezer frost and general area housekeeping)
  • Miscellaneous Job Duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school, six months to one-year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing and office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.

  • Standing and/or walking throughout the shift
  • Perform physical skills: hold, feel, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear and listen
  • Lifting /Carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Use of both hands when required, some repetitive motion required
  • Work in both extreme hot and cold temperatures as well as wet conditions
