Position Summary

The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, processing, and executing domestic and international shipments and receipts within a manufacturing environment. This role requires hands‑on experience with hazardous materials shipping, compliance with international trade regulations, and close collaboration with production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely movement of materials and finished goods.

Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Logistics
  • Prepare, package, label, and ship finished goods, raw materials, and components in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate international shipments, including hazmat goods, via air, ocean, and ground carriers.
  • Generate and review shipping documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and export filings.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, IATA, IMDG, ADR, and other applicable hazmat and international shipping regulations.
  • Select appropriate carriers and shipping methods to optimize cost, delivery time, and compliance.
  • Track shipments and proactively resolve delays, damage, or customs issues.
Receiving & Inventory
  • Receive, inspect, and verify inbound materials against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Safely handle and store hazardous and non‑hazardous materials according to procedures.
  • Perform inventory transactions in ERP/MRP systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Support cycle counts, audits, and physical inventories.
Compliance & Safety
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of international trade, export controls, and hazmat regulations.
  • Properly classify hazardous materials and ensure correct UN numbers, packing instructions, and documentation.
  • Participate in audits and inspections related to shipping, hazmat, and trade compliance.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Issue job packets to ensure accurate BOMs, routings, and instructions are in place prior to release.
  • Partner with Engineering to incorporate rework, holds, and priorities in the schedule.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping international hazardous materials.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and shipping software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical shipping and regulatory documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hazmat certification (current or previously held).
  • Experience with export compliance (ITAR, EAR, or similar regulations).
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, IATA, IMDG, and international trade regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks in a warehouse/manufacturing setting.
  • Manufacturing and warehouse environment.
  • May involve exposure to hazardous materials with required safety controls and PPE.
