Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Shipping Coordinator in Willoughby, Ohio. The role supports meeting customer demands by ensuring accuracy of shipments and proper documentation. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm and you’ll interact with sales, drivers, and customers to resolve issues.

Responsibilities include verifying records, preparing bills of lading, operating equipment, and maintaining data in the Invex system while ensuring safety and quality standards. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of raw materials and shipping/receiving processes.
• Ability to follow safety rules and requirements.
• Ability to input data accurately into Invex system.
• Basic arithmetic skills.
• Ability to read tags and production instructions.
• Ability to use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.

Job description

As a Shipping Coordinator you will be an important part of the Steel Technologies team and critical to meeting our customer demands. You’re more than a shipping coordinator, you’re an ensuring the materials are all correct before they arrive at the customer's. Ultimately, you play an important role at Steel Technologies.

The schedule for this position in Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm

How you'll contribute to our company:

• Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy
• Ensure complete shipments, oldest items first
• Check and match tags to bills before bills are signed
• Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes
• Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials
• Operate forklift and/or overhead crane to transport material
• Communicate with sales, customers, truck drivers, and supervisor to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, late delivery, or nonconformance to specifications
• Assist scale operator when needed
• Clean and maintain housekeeping of shipping office

• Knowledge of basic arithmetic
• Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions
• Ability to accurately use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to routinely bend and squat
• Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
