Job description

Basic Function:Prepares product and processes all shipments.

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Compares information and counts, weighs or measures items for outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoices, or other records.
  • Matches address labels to tags on cable and labels correctly; determines if the cable needs a UL label and attaches accordingly.
  • Assists in daily team projects as needed; actively participates in quarterly inventories.
  • Loads outgoing shipments on trucks daily.
  • Uses electric and manual pallet jacks to load trucks and move freight to staging area.
  • Ensures all documentation is accurate, in order, and processed daily.
  • Ensure all packages are labeled correctly and appropriately for shipping according to procedures.
  • Must verify part number and quantity of orders for shipment.
  • Works with production and planning to ensure that material is moved in a timely manner, to ensure customer products are shipped on time.
  • Utilizes and follows quality policy and operating procedures to insure the quality and consistency of the job being performed.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with the safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Cross-train in additional shipping positions in order to successfully perform those duties on an interim basis and train others.

Job Scope

  • Works as a team member to organize and stage outgoing freight for carriers to pick-up daily.
  • Communicates with other departments daily to solve problems.
  • Uses good judgment to minimize mistakes of shipping orders to wrong customers.
  • Follows written procedures for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED required. Must have a minimum of 1 year shipping experience.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:Utilize Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to properly package, inspect, and ship product. Ability to read and follow basic instructions, ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Pay close attention to detail and recognize and assist in resolving problems. Must have good analytical and interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Able to organize, prioritize, complete tasks, and manage time. Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment. Must be a self-starter.

Working Conditions:While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and must be reasonably ambulatory. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. This job requires vision sufficient for completing quality work, reading comprehension and computer use. This work also requires hearing sufficient for normal workplace conversation and training. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
