Job summary

Champion Packaging & Distribution Inc. is seeking a Spotter for the 2nd shift in Woodridge, IL. You will handle inbound/outbound shipments, prepare loads, and coordinate with carriers while ensuring safety and compliance with DOT guidelines.

The role operates 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) Monday through Friday, with overtime during peak seasons and potential for weekend work. Requires familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Verify and prepare shipments; verify info against bills of lading, invoices, orders.

• Move trailers between dock and yard and secure loads.

Description

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Will maintain updated schedule of customer deliveries to appropriate departments.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Must be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers.
• Support the shipment of goods produced and received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base
• Perform job operations utilizing SAP management system
• Prepare ASN's
• May direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments
• Responsible to make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
• Responsible for contacting customer to arrange for deliveries and prepare driver paperwork.
• Required to monitor the performance of forklift drivers and ensure inspections are performed on a daily basis.
• Required to prepare daily loads for staging, including pallet placards, bill of landings, pick tickets and shipping stickers.

Overview

• Monday-Friday

• Overtime/Weekends/Holidays will be required during peak/seasonal volumes
• 40-50 hours a week- Flexibility with schedule required
• Operate out of Woodridge, IL
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment safely; must adhere to all safe driving practices and DOT guidelines.
• The ability to drive and maintain a spotter -moving empty and loaded trailers from dock to yard or yard to docks as assigned
• Use landing gear to drop trailers; open and close swinging trailer doors and rise and lower roll-up doors
• Ensures the trailer is completely loaded and secured before moving from the dock area; ensures trailer doors are closed while not in the dock
• Perform Daily Pre-and Post-Trip Inspection – Report any vehicle mechanical problems immediately
• Perform Daily Yard Checks - Inspect and Red Tag “out-of-service” trailers and defective equipment.
• Arranges trailers in the yard in an orderly and efficient manner
• Must be willing and able work outdoors in all weather conditions including snow, rain, heat and cold
• Must be willing and able to operate moving equipment and work around moving equipment
• Must be able to pay close attention to detail while constantly aware of the work surroundings when operating a vehicle
• Must have the ability to reason logically, use common sense, and resolve issues independently. The physical demands of this position require waling, standing, sitting, hearing, seeing, moving, driving, reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Responsible for any other additional duties as assigned by management.
