Job summary

Wise Plastics Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our established warehouse team in Illinois. You will prepare and verify outbound shipments, coordinate carrier pickups, and manage shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities include preparing bills of lading, scheduling deliveries, resolving issues, and supporting inventory activities. The role requires forklift operation and experience with shipping portals and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of various transportation methods and familiarity with shipping documents, including international shipments.
• Attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and verify outbound shipments ensuring packaging, labeling, quantities, and documentation meet customer requirements.
• Prepare bills of lading, export documents, invoices, shipping labels, and other required paperwork.
• Schedule daily carrier pickups and coordinate deliveries with providers, customers, and vendors.
• Review pick tickets and communicate shortages or changes to Customer Service.
• Resolve time-sensitive shipping issues, carrier delays, and changing customer requirements.
• Support inventory activities, returns, and process improvements; delegate tasks to warehouse assistants.
• Participate in cycle counting and inventory activities; unload/load with forklift as needed.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and verify outbound shipments to ensure packaging, labeling, quantities, and documentation meet customer requirements.
• Prepare bills of lading, export documents, customer invoices, shipping labels, and other required paperwork.
• Schedule daily carrier pickups and coordinate deliveries with transportation providers, customers, and vendors.
• Review pick tickets and verify finished-goods availability; communicate shortages or shipment changes to Customer Service
• Help resolve time-sensitive shipping issues, carrier delays, and changing customer requirements.
• Support inventory activities, returns, shipping instructions, and process improvements
• Delegate tasks to warehouse assistants (ex. pick tickets)

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participates in cycle counting and inventory activities.
• Ships vendor RMA (return material authorization).
• Loads and unload trucks using a forklift or pallet jack as required.
• Scans and maintains bills of lading and export documents in shared network drive.

Requirements

What You Bring:

Knowledge of various transportation methods and familiarity with shipping documents including international shipping. Attention to detail and accuracy, able to manage multiple time sensitive priorities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, organized, teamwork, dependable, ability to prioritize work and work independently. MS Office and ERP familiarity. Ability to operate a stand-up/sit down forklift. Previous experience accessing and using shipping portals (FedEx, UPS, Customers), ability to work with all levels within the organization.

Preferred Skills/ Knowledge:

ISO Standards, IQMS, WMS system familiarity, use of RF scanners, pallet jacks, bi-lingual Spanish. Processing or initiating carrier or customer claims. Previous manufacturing experience.

Education Level / Required Certification:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Additional Information:

Will use pallet jacks and scissor lifts, forklifts and small hand tools. Will stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time. May reach, bend, kneel, stoop. May lift up to 35 pounds. May be exposed to outdoors and temperature fluctuations. Requires ability to read and interpret work instructions and shipping documents. Other duties as assigned.
