Job summary

Chase Doors is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk in Portland, OR to manage the flow of goods across a multi-shift operation. You will coordinate shipments, verify records, and ensure on-time deliveries while maintaining safety and accuracy across outbound and inbound activities.

Responsibilities include leading forklift-driven processes, inspecting loads, and communicating effectively with internal teams to optimize material movement and warehouse operations.

Qualifications

• 1+ years' experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving, dock operations.
• Demonstrated experience in managing forklift drivers and establishing a strong safety record.
• Ability to manage labor costs effectively in a busy shipping/receiving environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities of workers handling incoming/outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
• Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders to determine priorities and methods.
• Assist with shipping activities to ensure accuracy and condition of shipments.
• Determine space requirements and layout for shipments in boxcars and trucks.
• Inspect loading operations for compliance with specs and seal doors.
• Direct movement of shipments from platform to storage/work areas.
• Post weights and shipping charges; prepare bills of lading.
• May assist others in shipping and receiving tasks.

Overview

As the Shipping and Receiving Clerk, you will be responsible for the movement of goods in and out of a multi-shift operation. You will help with the flow of goods in order to keep production running smoothly and to keep material movement as efficient as possible.

(Monday- Friday, 7am-3:30pm)

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment: Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Assists with incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
• Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
• Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
• Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
• Posts weight and shipping charges.
• Prepares bills of lading.
• May assist workers in shipping and receiving activities.

Requirements

Required Experience

• Demonstrated experience in managing forklift drivers, establishing an excellent safety record, and effectively managing labor costs in the process.

Required Education

• 1+ years' experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving, dock operations.

• Exceptional detail orientation and problem-solving skills; persistence and perseverance to find the answer.
• Strong ability to effectively build both internal and external relationships to ensure optimal service to customers.
• Experience working with warehousing operations system.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, you must be able to effectively assert yourself when needed.
