Job summary

GAS-FIRED PRODUCTS INC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Shipping Clerk to handle outgoing materials, verify orders, and record transactions. The position requires accurate data entry, inventory awareness, and adherence to warehouse safety.

You will prepare packing lists, bills of lading, and UPS logs, and assist in packaging and shipping service parts. Forklift experience is beneficial but not required.

The hourly rate is $17.00, with standard warehouse hours and routine scheduling.

Job description

Job DetailsJob Location: Charlotte, NC 28208Salary Range: $17.00 - $17.00 Hourly

Responsibilities
  • Receives, verifies quantities, and properly records all transactions involving outgoing materials. Prepares documentation noting any discrepancies and transmits this information to Shipping Supervisor
  • Loads, ships and properly records all transactions involving outgoing materials on the date scheduled. Routes shipments based on the most direct and economical manner following standard procedures or customer instructions. Records quantities, serial numbers and checks to ensure the order is correct.
  • Packages and ships all service parts orders in a timely fashion
  • Prepares proper shipping documents including packing lists, bills of lading and UPS logs. Provides necessary documentation to the Customer Service Department for invoicing purposes.
  • Inspects all incoming material for damage and files freight claims as needed. Ensures quality of packaging is acceptable to prevent damage in shipment.
  • Stocks material within 2 days of receipt of the goods. Organizes and maintains the warehouse and other raw material and finished goods storage areas in a clean and orderly manner. Ensures all incoming material has been properly labeled with the correct part number.
  • Ships complete orders and only back-order material at the direction of the Shipping Supervisor
  • Ensures that adequate shipping supplies are maintained within economic limits as directed by the Shipping Supervisor
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Proven experience as shipping clerk or similar position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer programs for entering data
  • Basic math and recording abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Great communication and interpersonal abilities
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Good understanding of warehouse safety regulations
  • Physical dexterity and experience operating forklifts.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of data entry and inventory software programs.

NOTE: FORKLIFT EXPERIENCE IS NOT A REQUIREMENT

Qualifications Requirements
Education and / or experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language skills

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Must be able to read incoming BOLs, warehouse specifications, part orders

Mathematical skills

Demonstrated ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide

Ability to perform these operations using US dollar and weight measurements, volume and distance.

Certificates, licenses, registrations

Forklift Certification. (Must be able to pass operating and written test.)

Other skills and abilities

Employee will use common hand-tools.

The use of automated shipping document and labeling equipment is involved

Ability to enter data using company provided computer software
