Job summary

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical ability to repair and maintain and/or rebuild equipment.
  • General understanding of processing equipment (valves, pipes, pumps, boiler, etc.).
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Proficiency with basic computing software (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to work as a motivated self-starter.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license.

  • Effectively clean and maintain a safe work environment, paying close attention to spills of all sizes that can result in a slip/trip hazard and/or environmental hazard.
  • Clean grease trap pit and screening tubes twice a month or as needed.
  • Plan, prioritize and communicate daily/weekly activities with management.
  • Manage storage of raw material in the facility.
  • Coordinate shipping of processed material and receiving of unprocessed material.
  • Document and disseminate shipping and receiving tickets for all materials and manage receipts.
  • Operate transfer pumps within the plant, valves and connecting hoses to vacuum trucks, operates truck to offload material, safely parks truck when finished, and operates forklift truck to load and unload various materials.
  • Perform maintenance and/or general housekeeping of the equipment and work areas plus general labor duties.
  • Ability to use effective problem-solving skills to work more efficiently with co-workers, customers, partners and vendors.
  • Perform plumbing or miscellaneous modifications and/or repairs.
  • Keeps track and records plant inventory and water discharge to city system.
  • Performs end of day plant inspection to ensure enough space for receiving material, that transfer pumps & valves are off, boiler conditions are good, and checking for any missed spills/leaks/objects on group.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work for long period outdoors in ambient temperature and precipitation extremes typical of Hawaii climate.
  • Ability to talk and hear frequently as job involves daily oral communication.
  • Ability to sit, stand, twist, reach, walk, push, pull, work in splayed positions, use of upper and lower extremities to perform maintenance and repair functions, lift and carry materials and tools up to 50 lbs., and climb stairs.
  • Ability to wear protective equipment on the head, face, hands, and feet, including a welding helmet, respirator, or anything else in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in varying noise levels and to wear hearing protection as required.
  • Ability to climb ladders from 5' to 10'.
